Fuck the anemic Twilight Saga...here's what vampires are ALL about

The moment I saw this trailer from Breaking Glass Pictures, I knew that this film was going to set the entire tired Twilight Saga on it's ear...or fang. ;) These are what vampires are all about: sexy, seductive, powerful.

@Bouncy72...Hey, you! You finally found me, eh? LOL! So very glad you did. Took ya long enough. ;)

As you'll find when you read further into this blog...I'm VERY opinionated. I don't mince my words here, or in any of my blogs for that matter. However, that is not to say that other voices are not welcome here. The whole idea for this blog in particular is to discussion the films I cover here. I can't get into much discussion with the Bel Ami and the Raging Stallion films that much, except perhaps the more plot driven films. As for my film blogs, which include those I've done honoring Bel Ami (you know which ones those are by now I hope *grin) and Raging Stallion, and this one, are all joined by a common thread...my passionate love for film, all film.

As for the Twilight Saga..to me, yeah, for me it's too sterile and that's what I hate about it. I really tried reading the books. Got to about page 80 of Twilight before I decided to jump ship. I just didn't have the patience to read anything that was THAT poorly written and Stephanie Meyer is NOT a good writer (sorry, this is just my opinion). I guess I'm not a teenage girl anymore. LOL! The movies, UGH! Let's see: Twilight bored the crap out of me, New Moon only slightly better but not much and I didn't get around to seeing Eclipse. Missed it the first time it played because of family vacation and I just got too busy with school to see it when they re-released it. I will have to say, that the only reason I'm giving this film series any lick (ha! vampire humor), is because of the eye candy of the male persuasion. I am so hot to trot for Taylor Lautner it's to the point of embarrassment. ;) When he's on screen, my eyes are on him and no one else. I must say, here is one smoking hot dude that SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO DO PORN (there I said it) LOL! Welcome, my friend welcome. Don't let my heated opinions scare you off. It's just my passion breaking through. :)

Lol, We'll have to agree to disagree.
While Stephanies style may be slightly immature & geared at a younger audience, I think her characters are so awesome & draw you in immediately (*grin* obviously not you but...) I really adore them.
Hey I wouldn't have met u if it wasn't for Twilight, as I only started hanging out & discovering more about the online universe while looking for more Twilight stuff.
Taylor has a hot body, but his face kills it for me. He looks like a 12yr old.
My guys are Jackson Rathbone & Robert Pattinson, *swoon*.
Um I think my movie tastes are more mainstream than yours. My fav movies are the LotR's Trilogy, Serenity & the Twilight Saga :)
HEHEHE I think this is the longest post I've ever left on a blog. (Twilight tends to get me fired up, *grin*)

Hmm...unfortunately not me. I can't STAND Bella and want to pouch-putt her off the world. She's such an idiot. She's going to choose Edward over Jacob? What is she NUTS! And Edward is just too whiny ass to give two humps for. Sorry, again. LOL! All my sympathies go to Jacob and the wolvies. I love's my werewolves and remain partial to them. Vampires..ah-hem..just suck! ;)

I have to admit though, my heart left mainstream cinema very long time ago. I say it repeatedly here but I really hate all the remakes and rehashes they are doing. Hollywood, or Hollyweird as I 'affectionately' refer to it as, hasn't come up with a truly original horror film in ages, and nothing really in the indie scene really grabs me in that regard. Paranormal Activity? What are you crazy people? LOL! That stupidity I hoped ended with The Blair Witch Project. But I can honestly say that if one is brave enough and adventuresome enough, there are some gems to be found. :)

*Sticks fingers in ears & hums loudly* Lol... Jacob over Edward... crazy woman :p
Tell you what, you take Jake & I'll take my boy. *Grin*
Can't say I thought much of paranomal activity either. I'm not really a horror fan though. Did you see Dread? (*grin* with Jackson of course)
Speaking of different movies, did you see the Machinest or Momento? They're both good.
Little Ashes?

LOL! Now, you're catching on. :) These are the types of films I cover here for the most part: the little shining jewels that have been ignored, kicked around and otherwise shown disrespect. LOL! Let's see:
The Machinest- Haven't seen it but I've heard nothing but great things about it and I've put it on my must-see this winter list.
Memento- Love this film. I thought it was original and a great story that worked on multi levels: 1) it was a marvelous mystery, and 2) a fascinating character study. I think I have it on one of my lists, hopefully it made it to my Genius list. If it isn't, it's a gross oversight on my part and I must remedy that; it's brilliant. I know I put it on my 100 greatest films of all time list.
Little Ashes- Another jewel that is on my must-see list and I've heard nothing but great things about it. I heard that Robert's portrayal of Dali was aces and it just sounds like an amazing film and incredible story. And based on the trailer I saw, the cinematography looks beautiful. I've always loved Dali's work and also Luis Bunuel. I think the other one in the triangle is Lorca, if I'm not mistaken. I've read plenty of Lorca in my Comparative Lit class in high school.
These were films that got next to not distribution, no marketing, but somehow, they got recognized as being great films, but were rarely seen by audiences. That was my idea of this blog: to uncover these lovely (in most cases) and disrespected gems. :)

Offhand what are your top 5 favourite movies?

*grin*
You ask the hard questions. LOL! Do you have a spare couple of days? :)
If you scroll all the way down near the bottom of the blog you'll come to my lists. These are no where complete but they're a start. But off the top of my head my 5 favorite of all time:
1) Gone With The Wind: this was the very first film I saw in the theater as a child when my parents took me to see it at a theater that had opened in town. They were showing classics to draw in the crowds.
2) Casablanca: Need I say more. :) "Here's looking at you, kid"
3)Battle Royale: the original Japanese classic sci-fi film. As politically incorrect as you can get but fun as all hell.
4) Irreversible: Gasper Noe's now classic and controversial film. May not be for all tastes but it's a stuning work of film art. Can't wait to see his new one, Enter the Void.
5) The Devil's Backbone: Del Toro's genius masterpiece of psychological horror. It has elements of suspense that Hitchcock would have been proud of.

Honorable Mentions:
Pan's Labyrinth: Another one by Del Toro. This is a stunningly beautiful film, as far as the fantasy aspects go, and very worthy of high placement on my genius list.
The Tin Drum: This will have to be one of my all time favorite films. It's all about war seen through the eyes of a child in one aspect.
In A Glass Cage: this has tremendous respect in the horror film community and it's an awesomely disturbing film about the nature of the perpetuation of violence and abuse. It's uncompromising and a chilling film.
I have the trailers to some of these posted here. You just have to find them. ;)

Well, that's a partial list. Take a scroll through my blog. You'll soon discover the films (and music) that make me tick. :)

*Grin* My mate & I love getting ppl to watch Battle Royale with us... but ppl seem to resist it for some reason. The second one was dreadful.

Elizabeth Young, AKA The Gore Hound, or Elspeth Chagall said...

I can't say I bothered with Battle Royale 2 but I heard it was dreadful so I never bothered. But the first one was genius. I have the book but I hadn't had a chance to read it yet. I've heard it described as the "Lord of the Flies" for the 21st Century and they are not too far off the mark in that regard. I think what puts people off to it is that fact that it deals with kids and violence. But judging by what is going on in the world today, this film still hits its mark even though it may strike a little too close to people's comfort zones.

There was one film I'd forgotten; a small but luminious gem, that shines brightly like a star amongst all my films. The film is Waterland and I do believe this film was placed very highly on my list of greatest films ever made and one of my all time favorites. It's a beautiful film on how larger histories have a hand in shaping our own personal ones. Below is the post I wrote about the film and the trailer.
